A social media post about an energy truce which was neither confirmed nor denied was enough to reverse early gains in wheat markets. That's where the headline sensitivity sits now - the board wants a reason to sell off. The physical reality however hasn't really changed - the Black Sea remains shut and the two biggest tenders of the month are pricing this week. If Algeria takes 500,000 MT and Pakistan takes 750,000 MT, that's a lot of stem taken out of Black Sea alternatives for nearby shipments.

Wheat Slips as Trump Floats an Energy Truce
Futures. Wheat eased to start the week as September contracts expired. CBOT SRW Dec settled 722-0, -3-2 (-0.45%) after dipping to 710, the lowest since August 26. KC HRW Dec 792-4, -6-0 (-0.75%). MIAX Spring Wheat Dec 736-2, -8-6 (-1.17%). Matif Dec eased 0.50 to 240.50 (-0.21%) after rising over 1% early.
Black Sea. Trump posted that Ukraine and Russia had agreed not to hit each other's energy targets, and both Chicago and Paris reversed early gains on it. Zelenskiy's response: Kyiv will support an energy ceasefire only if Washington can ensure it. Ukraine's wheat shipments since July 1 are running 48% behind last year, and APK-Inform lifted its crop estimate 2.4 MMT to 25 MMT with exports seen at just 10.5 MMT.
US Crop. Spring wheat harvest reached 93%, in line with average, while winter wheat planting is 8% complete against 12% normally. Weekly inspections of 456,720 MT were down 40% on the same week last year, with Japan, Mexico and Thailand the top takers. Marketing-year shipments lag by 28%.
Tender News. Algeria's optional-origin tender closes today with French wheat still expected to be excluded. Pakistan's 750,000-tonne TCP tender closes Wednesday.
Hormuz/Energy. The Saudi East-West pipeline stays shut with no restart date, and Monday's Oman talks were postponed at Riyadh's request. Houthis fired dozens of missiles and drones at a Saudi airbase, and the IRGC claims a tanker hit mines in a restricted zone. Iran's security council says no talks until its conditions are met. Brent closed above $105 and WTI near $102 after early gains of 4% faded.
